All 109 names are on

I am adding names and any information i can find about the men from both WW1 and WW2 on the memorial.

Mission Statement

The Clayton and Whittle at War website purpose is to help people discover more about the men from our two villages.

In 1914 - 1919 and again in 1939 - 1945 the men of our closely knit villages of Clayton le Woods and Whittle le Woods would pay the ultimate price for protecting our country.

It started out as personal family history project as there are two soldiers names on the memorial who are related\connected to my family.

I started to explore their military service and hence gave me the idea to expand and create this website for all the men on the memorial.
